Description
North America, USA, ca. mid 19th century CE. A Civil War era iron cannonball with a fuse hole and hollow interior for powder-charge; likely part of a scatter shot/grape shot in which multiple iron balls would be loaded into a cannon and fired simultaneously. This deadly missile has a shiny black exterior and a casting seam around the center from the mold formation. Weight is exactly 1.8 lb (.81 kg); Size: 2.86" W (7.3 cm)
