Description
Europe, United Kingdom, English, ca. 15th to 16th century CE. An iron ceremonial pike head with a tubular tang and two bands that project off the rim for reinforcing and ornamentation when mounted on a pole. Several ribs encircle the tang, the molded neck widens to rounded shoulders with decorative slits, and the blade tapers to a point. The details that embellish this spear head indicate that it was a ceremonial piece for processions or ceremonial guards. Size: 8.625" L x 1.25" W (21.9 cm x 3.2 cm)
