Description
A bronze attachment with three "goat protomes" in wicker work with knots on an iron spike, Luristan, early 1st millennium B.C.Iron thorn, crowned by a tin bronze attachment which encloses the end of the thorn in overcast casting. Below a square bar with ribs at the top and bottom. Above this is a three-part sculpture: in the angles between three outward-pointing thorns is a network of knots, from the middle of which emerges a goat protome. Above that there are again three thorns pointing outwards and above that a stylized animal head. Extremely beautiful, blue-green patina of the attachment. Height 14.8 cm. A measurement revealed the composition of the tin bronze: 43% tin, 8% lead, 0.3% Ag, 0.3% gold, 0.2% nickel and 15 other elements.Provenance: South German private collection, acquired in the South German art trade in the 80s.Condition: I - II
