Description
A choice Roman orange-ware lamp with leaping lion, North African, 5th - 6th Century AD, the lion within central discus extremely well-detailed in fine style, fill-holes above and below, the rim adorned with a stamped rosettes and concentric circles, the spout long with channel with pinched handle and ring base on bottom centered with concentric circles. L: 5 in (12.9cm). A very nice example with well-preserved orange slip and light deposits. Ex collection of Theo L. Zinn, Surrey, UK acquired between 1970-1995.
