Description
A fantastic Egyptian alabaster kohl jar, Middle Kingdom, c. 2050 - 1710 BC, of classic type with pronounced shoulders, extended foot and wide, flat rim. The interior is vertically bordered and retains some of the original black kohl powder as well as part of the original linen, now being used as a plug. An additional linen band is around the neck. 1 3/8 x 1 5/8 in (3.5 x 4.2 cm). Very well-preserved and an excellent example! Ex Connecticut private collection.
