Description
An Egyptian alabaster jar, Middle Kingdom, c. 2061 – 1690 BC, the body rounded with flattened bottom, short neck and wide, flat rim. H: 4 ¼ in (10.8 cm); W: 4 1/8 in (10.5 cm). Nicely cut from translucent stone with relatively thin walls and internal mineral encrustation. Cf. Petrie, Stone and Metal Vase, pl. XXIX, 631 for a similar example.
