Description
"Apocryphal" account of Lewis and Clark 1809, with fold-out map. Title pages states 5 engravings. The book contains 4 engravings that we believe are original to the book: Sioux Queen (facing title page), Sioux Warrior (facing page 37), Mahas Queens (facing page 136) and Serpentine Chief (facing page 204) . There is a 5th engraving that is between pages 175-176 that is bound sideways and does not appear to be original to the book titled The Mohawk Indian Warrior. See picture. The title page states the map in the book is Map of the Country inhabited by the Western tribes of Indians. The map folded and glued to back is titled Map of Lewis and Clarks Tracks. It measures approx. 27x12”. 300 pages. From a non-smoking home and free of any odors. Provenance: Bob Borcherdt collection. If lot is absent of a condition report a condition report may be requested via email. Buyer must view photographs or scans to assist in determining condition and ask further questions if so desired. We ship most items in this auction in house and gladly combine shipping if possible of multiple items.
