A QING DYNASTY FAMILLE ROSE MAGPIE AND BLOSSOM LIDDED GINGER JAR, QIANLONG MARK, 1644-1912, overglazed enameled porcelain, an onion form finial painted with pink lotus bloom, above a hat form lid painted with peony blooms set against a rocky branch filled landscape within a periwinkle band issuing a rainbow of lotus blooms nestled among scrolling tendrils encircled by a gilt band, above a tall cylindrical neck painted with orange lotus and fuschia peony flowers, issuing a delicate tendril lacey collar with six different flower species over bulbous shoulders to a waisted base, on the body a scene of three magpies, one has plucked a pink flower, they rest on the gnarled branches of a pink and white plum blossom tree, and a fourth magpie is in flight; wild peony and chrysanthemums grow upward, and two descending insects flutter verso, the flared base with periwinkle and pink leaf band, the foot with underglaze blue Qianlong Zhuan Shu seal style mark.
