A dramatic carved and painted wood helmet mask with boar's hair and abrus seeds. Binji peoples, DRC/ Congo, Africa. The mask measures 16" x 10" x 12" inches (Height on the custom professional stand: 21 inches tall). Provenance: James Willis Gallery, San Francisco; A long time respected African Art dealer since 1972 , in 2003, James Willis served on the Cultural Property Advisory Committee for the White House for sixteen consecutive years. A presidential appointment. Also :Ex Allan Stone Gallery, New York (acquired from the above in 1991).

Condition

Fair, small loss to attached animal hide beard , well handled and field used.
