West Africa, Nigeria, Chamba Tribe, ca. mid-20th century CE. A forged-iron currency ring of an elongated ovoid form with a slender ring on one end. Currency rings like this example were typically part of a larger display of currency rings from which individual pieces could be removed in cases of a trade or significant purchase. Size: 13.4" L x 1.3" W (34 cm x 3.3 cm)
