**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca.300 BCE to 300 CE. A pottery incense burner of a rounded form with and opening at the front, a knobby textured surface, and an adorable dog perched atop in a prone position, doubling as a handle. Most collectors of Pre-Columbian pottery are familiar with puppies coming from the Colima region. Jalisco pottery dogs, while similar to those of Colima, show distinct differences, particularly in the shape of the face and ears. This endearing canine also presents with coffee bean shaped eyes, raised ears, and a curled tail. Size: 6" W x 7.25" H (15.2 cm x 18.4 cm)

Condition
Body and dog repaired from a few large pieces, with resurfacing and overpainting along body break lines, and small chips and light adhesive residue along dog break lines. Light encrustations, nicks to some protruding nodules, and fading to original pigment. Nice earthen deposits throughout.
