Im Inventar der Sammlung Galaverni wie folgt beschrieben: "A Chokwe female mask. It represents the young woman 'Mwana Pwo' ready for marriage in the 'Pwo' dance which brings fertility. The face is carved in wood an elaborated coiffure of vegetable fibre is added. The typical red colour of this type of masks ts obtained with the powder of the Pterocarpus. The face of this fascinating portrait of young woman, which seems deeply absorbed, almost lost in reverie, is particularly attractive."

Im Widerspruch zum obigen Beschrieb handelt es sich wohl eher um eine männliche Maske, wobei zusätzlich auch die Verwendung dieses Objektes als Maske eher unwahrscheinlich erscheint – ex Africa semper aliquid novi...
