Item Details

Description

Group from US Army Air Forces Brigadier General Jesse Auton that was obtained via a relative of his out of the trunk of a car approximately 25 years ago and has been together ever since. During WWII in 1943 he was Commander of the 4th Air Defense Wing in the UK, and then the Commanding General of the 65th Fighter Wing, 8th AAF over Europe until 1945. He served in a variety of positions post war until his death in 1952 due to an airplane crash while serving as Chief of the Fighter Division, Strategic Air Command. Lot includes his 48 Star burial flag, still folded, Cordovan leather belt, photos of him and his extended family, and numerous documents and copies of research pertaining to family genealogical research.
