Description
Pre-Classic Mayan Jade Shaman Figure
This is a fantastic example of a Jade Pre-Classic Mayan Shaman Figure. Hailing from the Peten region of Guatemala, the figure is that of a shaman, noted by the bump on his/her head. The shallow indentations on the forehead were used to secure inlays, and are reminiscent of the eyebrow details of the Olmec Gods. This rare interim figure sheds light on the transition of cultural dominance in Mesoamerica. Rough incrustation on the surface of the jade.
