Description
A fragment of moon rock in a display case. A fragment of lunar gabbro meteorite NWA 4932, which is part of a stone found in the Sahara Desert in 2007. The moon is regularly struck by meteorites which eject lunar rocks into space. With the right trajectory, some of this material gets caught by the Earth’s gravitational pull and falls as a meteorite down to Earth. It is a light gray feldspathic-breccia Achondrite representing a lunar impact melt. The specimen measures 3 mm and is protected by an informative plastic display frame which measures 2 x 2 in (5 x 5 cm). A nice display with a rare piece of the moon!
