DESCRIPTON: Unusual flat top softwood tall case clock housing a movement by William Mears of Harrisburg circa early 19th century. The case of typical form consisting of turned feet, a framed square base, stocky waist with tombstone arched door, a flat top bonnet with full columns and nice moldings. The American dial with the script signature of William Mears/Harrisburg and an eight day movement located behind. Painted softwood clockcases from Harrisburg are rare. MEASUREMENTS: 21" wide x 10-1/2" deep x 87-1/2" high. CONDITION: Very good with minor wear as expected with age and use. Dry old finish. Cracks to glass on side pane of hood.
