Description
An Egyptian terracotta head of the god Bes, Late Period, c. 664 - 30 BC, with leonine features and hole atop the head for a headdress. Nice features remain and an interesting piece that appears to have been part of a larger composition as there are also small holes at the top of the head and through each side of base. 2 1/2 x 2 7/8 in (6.4 x 7.3 cm). Moderate weathering and light deposits. Ex Philadelphia private collection.
