Flor Garduño (b. 1957) has been described as Mexico’s greatest living poet-photographer. Her powerful images of native peoples throughout the Americas, her symbolic nudes and lyrical still-lifes bridge the threshold between the sacred/temporal worlds and allow viewers to glimpse what Carlos Fuentes called the moving portrait of eternity. In the 1980s Garduño honed her vision on numerous trips to remote parts of Latin America where she photographed the lives and rituals of indigenous people. The book that resulted from this body of work, Witnesses of Time(1992), was published in six editions and became an international success with exhibitions of the photographs traveling to major museums around the world.

Flor Garduño was born in Mexico City in 1957. As a child she lived on a farm where her closeness to nature shaped her character and artistic sensibility. She studied visual art at the Antigua Academia de San Carlos but gave up her studies to become a darkroom assistant to the prestigious Mexican photographer, Manuel Alvarez Bravo. Garduño has photographed throughout Mexico, Latin America, Europe, and most recently in India. She prints her photographs and portfolio prints using silver, platinum, palladium and digital processes. Her books include Witnesses of Time(1992), Mesteños (1994) Inner Light (2002), and Trilogy (2011). Flor Garduño lives in Mexico
