From the Series Mestesos the Spanish word for homeless or unstamped. The Spaniards called the freely roaming horses Mestesos, from this word the North Americans coined the term Mustang - meaning [wild] horses of the North American prairies.
Flor Garduño (B 1957) has been described as Mexico's greatest living poet-photographer. Her powerful images of native peoples throughout the Americas, her symbolic nudes and lyrical still-lifes bridge the threshold between the sacred/temporal worlds and allow viewers to glimpse what Carlos Fuentes called "the moving portrait of eternity. Flor Garduño was born in Mexico City in 1957. As a child she lived on a farm where her closeness to nature shaped her character and artistic sensibility Garduño has photographed throughout Mexico, Latin America, Europe, and most recently in India. She prints her photographs and portfolio prints using silver, platinum, palladium and digital processes. Her books include Witnesses of Time(1992), Mestesos (1994) Inner Light (2002), and Trilogy (2011). Flor Garduño lives in Mexico
