Mid 19th century, 161 x 97 cm, North East Persia, Khorasan, Sistan, Zabol region
This small white-ground Baluch featuring an elaborately designed and highly symbolic tree of life design is the work of a tribal group living in the Sistan border province, possibly the Madad Khani. It was published by Herrmann as early as 1990 and interpreted in an informative discussion. A fine weave, silky pile wool. – The outer border is missing all around, new overcasting along the sides, somewhat reduced ends.
