Description
Tall Standard glaze vase with floral decoration painted by Kataro Shirayamadani in 1887 - his first year at the pottery. Marks include the Rookwood logo, which indicates the date, shape 626 S, W7 for type of clay body, an incised L for Light Standard glaze and Shiri’s incised Japanese cypher. There is a tight firing separation on the bottom, fine overall crazing, a few open bubbles in the glaze and a tiny nick at the base. Height is 15 1/8 inches.
