Description
This lot consists of a framed oil painting on board, done in the style of Albert Bierstadt (German-American, 1830-1902). Image depicts a sublime landscape; primeval cliffs rise into the misty sky, while a mirror-like body of water pools deeply in the foreground. An outstanding addition to any collection. Overall dimensions are approximately 11.75" x 13.25", with an approximate image sight of 7.5" x 9.75".
Albert Bierstadt (German-American, 1830-1902) was best known for his sweeping and impressive American landscapes. He received formal artistic training in Dusseldorf, and would eventually become a member of the legendary Hudson River School. Bierstadt is also a noted member of the Rocky Mountain School of painting.
