Description
English 1850 Paper Mache & Mother of Pearl Bombé Shape Sewing Box. This listing is for an exceptionally nice, English mid 19th century, circa 1850, Victorian paper-mache inlaid with Mother of Pearl fitted sewing box. The box measures 11 by 9 inches and is 4 1/2 inches high. It is Bombé in shape and sits on 4 pad feet. The MOP design is floral. This is highlighted by gold and light blue arabesque corner designs.
The interior is fully fitted is satin and paper. There are many compartments including for thimbles, sewing needles etc. both pretty and practical.
The box is in also in exceptional condition especially considering it's approximate 170 year old age.
