Description
**Originally Listed At $450**
Native American, Southwestern USA, Colorado or Utah, found near Hovenweep, Anasazi/Ancestral Puebloans, ca. 1100 to 1300 CE. A pair of ceramic ladles, both decorated in the distinctive black-on-white style of the Anasazi. One has a deep, round bowl, decorated with interlocking and concentric triangles; it would have once had a long handle. The other has a bowl along its full length, including its handle, but is shallower, with thin edges. Triangles painted in black radiate down from the sides, forming a border around whatever may have been scooped into the basin. Size of the shallower ladle: 5.25" W x 2" H (13.3 cm x 5.1 cm)
Provenance: ex-Joan Shaw collection, bought in 1971; loaned to the Mesa Verde Museum, 1962-1970; ex-Bill Mitchell collection, Cortez, Colorado, USA, from 1958-1962
All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
