19th/20th century. Showing Goddess Durga killing the Demon Mahisasura Pahari. Pahari painting (literally meaning a painting from the mountainous regions: pahar means a mountain in Hindi) is an umbrella term used for a form of Indian painting, done mostly in miniature forms, originating from Himalayan hill kingdoms of North India, during 17th-19th century, including Basholi, Kangra, Guler and many more. These distinctive styles developed since the 17th century and continued until the mid-20th century. Strong detail and colors. Image 9 ¾ inches x 12 ¾ inches.
