Jacques Van Aalten (Michigan, Florida, Netherland, Belgium, 1907 - 1997)
Jacques Van Aalten was born April 12, 1907, in Antwerp, Belgium, and died May 24, 1997 in Deerfield Beach, Florida. He was a graduate of the National Academy of Design and a Life Member of the Art Students League of New York.
He studied at Grande Chaumiere, Paris and taught at the Nassau Conservatory of Art, Rockville Center, New York. He also had the Van Aalten Studio School in Detroit. He was a member of the Federal Art Project. He married Mimi Van Aalten; they lived in New Orleans, from 1950 to 1972. They moved to Florida in 1972. He is buried in Broward County, Florida.
Exhibited at Whitney Museum, Beaux Arts, Architectural League, Detroit Institute of Art, Delgado Art Museum, New Orleans; Rockport Art Association, among others.
Winner of Suydam Silver Medal and Tiffany Foundation Scholarship.
