This lot consists of a hand-painted oil on unstretched gessoed canvas, done in the style of Post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh (Dutch, 1853-1890). "Vincent 87" is hand-written at bottom left of composition. Image depicts a beautiful sunflower cast upon a backdrop of blues that punctuate the texture of the artist's generous brush strokes. This painting is done in the vivid, Post-Impressionist style for which Van Gogh is so well known. Unstrectched canvas measures approximately 17" x 20".

Paper label en verso reads "Vincent Van Gogh" "Dos Girasoles Cortados". Ink stamp also en verso reads "Galerie Vallauris".

Vincent Willem van Gogh was a major Post-Impressionist painter. He was a Dutch artist whose work had a far-reaching influence on 20th-century art. His output includes portraits, self portraits, landscapes and still lifes of cypresses, wheat fields and sunflowers. Van Gogh drew as a child but did not paint until his late twenties; he completed many of his best-known works during the last two years of his life. In just over a decade he produced more than 2,100 artworks, including 860 oil paintings and more than 1,300 watercolors, drawings, sketches and prints.
