Rare chromolithograph portrait of Stephen A. Douglas, orator, political adversary of Abraham Lincoln, and US Senator. Chromolithography was an innovative technique that allowed the mass production of what appeared like realistic oil-on-canvas portraits. Few examples of Douglas have sold publicly. Consignor relates that this piece was found in an old home in Cincinnati, Ohio. Some slight creases and wear to print. Housed in period frame. 14 x 12 inches.
