Boris Khomenko was born in 1930. His work was featured in several one man exhibitions in Leningrad (St. Petersburg) through the 1960s and 1970s, with examples included in the permanent collection of the State Russian Museum, St. Petersburg.
This artist was one of the approx. fifty artists featured in the first auction of Soviet Art conducted in the United States. The event was held at New York City’s prestigious Park Avenue Armory on October 22, 1988. The event was widely hailed as a "cultural breakthrough" during the Cold War. Other artists featured in the event included Kasimir Malevich, David Burliuk, Vladimir Lebedev and Natalia Gontcharova.
Provenance: This work is pictured as Lot 48 in Guernsey's auction “Art of the Soviet Union", October, 1988.
