Description
This lot consists of a graphite illustration on paper, done in the modern style of Frida Kahlo (Mexican, 1907-1954). "Frida Kahlo" is hand painted at bottom of painting. This beautifully detailed image portrays the artist herself, surrounded by blackbirds and a brilliant red ribbon that extends from her black tresses. A beautiful addition to any gallery. This framed piece measures approximately 16.75" x 11.75".
Frida Kahlo (Mexican, 1907-1954) is well known for her self-portraits, which incorporate color and surrealism in a way that is all her own. Her artwork is recognizable for its splendorous color and naive stylization, but holds a depth and a pain that many viewers can truly connect with. Though largely confined in life by her physical ailments, Frida Kahlo was prolific, politically active, and a deeply passionate individual.
