Upon being requested of a memento of his son from both Thompson’s bible class as well as the men who served in company A, 106th regiment, New York volunteer infantry with his son, Joseph wrote this memoir telling the story of his son’s birth, sailing to England, France, and Italy, with different anecdotes of his life depicting him as the model person fighting for what was right at all times including the abolition of slavery.
