Dedication of the Church Where John Adams and John Quincy Adams Would be Laid to Rest in Quincy, Mass.
(PRESIDENT JOHN ADAMS) & (PRESIDENT JOHN QUINCY ADAMS) & (WIVES). "Order of Services, at the Dedication of the New Stone Congregational Church."
November 12, 1828-Dated Broadside, Titled: "Order of Services, at the Dedication of the New Stone Congregational Church", Housing the Remains of President John Adams, President John Quincy Adams, and their Wives, Quincy, MA, Choice Very Fine. This Large Broadside measuring 15.75" x 9.75" was given to congregants at the Dedication of this new Church in Quincy, Mass.. The organized Dedication program consists of ten parts, and the Broadside is large enough to include the lyrics of two hymns. This Broadside is identical in form and appearance to that held by the Library of Congress. The "New Stone Congregational Church" houses the remains of President John Adams, President John Quincy Adams, and their wives. This Church is known today as the United First Parish Church, and it is one of only two Churches that contain a Presidential Tomb. Supposedly, the third stanza of the song in Part VI is an allusion to John Adams, "who had given to the parish the stone quarries in the town for the purpose of erecting the church." Extremely rare, the first we have offered.
