Observations," London, ca. 1766. Hand-colored map with decorative title cartouche and with notes on places such as: "Sumatra is well peopled, affording all Necessaries for life. Their high mountains cover'd with trees have mines of gold, silver, iron, sulpher etc. Their Desarts (sic) are inhabited by elephants, Tygers, Rhinoceroses, porcupines, serpents etc. and in their rivers are many crocodiles." Map shows what is now Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, and sections of China and northern Australia. With center fold as issued.
