Description
Original wool blanket used by liberated prisoners from KL Dachau concentration camps given by Canadian Red Cross to warm them up. This blanket was originally used by the prisoner that appears in the right of the photo. Purchased directly from relatives along with this photo shown. Blanket is almost complete with small pieces lost and it has some rips and dirt due to use and years kept. The blanket has a small label sewn to it that reads "Gift of Canadian Red Cross Society". It was very common that Red Cross organizations from all over the world helped the liberated prisoners from concentration camps giving them not only first aid and food but also clean and warm clothes and blankets like this. Size 130 cm x 214 cm. IMPORTANT!!! Although photo originally came with this blanket, photo IS NOT FOR SALE! We can give you copy of this photo.
