Description
This is an Alaskan Native Eskimo Inuit Vintage Black Cottonwood Bark Face Carving by David L. Hendren, Cert. #1833. This mask has been carved by hand from the bark of the Black Cottonwood tree, which occurs in the lowlands of Alaska's south-central and southern coastal forests. The bark comes from trees that have been dead for 5-6 years. It is then possible to remove bark that is up to 6" thick. Appears to be fox fur. Is approx 7" x 7" and is in good, used condition with known damage.
