c. 1770 Revolutionary War Era Iron Naval Boarding Pike
c. 1770 Colonial to Revolutionary War Era, Scarce Wrought-Iron Naval Boarding Pike Head with Boat Hook Style Design, Choice Very Fine.
This original Iron Boarding Pike Head with Boat Hook measures about 15" long, with its spike measuring 5.75" long and the hook portion 4". It is constructed from one piece of solid cast Iron and still shows the edges impacted from its Hand-forging. Two small holes present for being ready to accept attaching to a long wooden pole. This type of weapon would have been used to either board or repel boarders, or to "hook" items or limbs during a Naval battle. An excellent, very clean example with a light original patina that is choice for display.
