Description
North America, United States, Eastern Seaboard, ca. 1760 to 1780. An imposing iron pike / spontoon with a large folded shaft and tapered blade with added bronze decorative attachment where blade insets into sleeve. Pikes were little used in infantry formations beyond 1700, however, pikes such as these were used during the Revolutionary War until enough bayonets could be procured for general use by the Continental Army and attached militia units making this quite a rare piece! Size: 16"L.

Condition
Intact with expected surface wear and oxidation, the surface somewhat pitted and showing its age. One pressure crack to shaft. Overall very good.
