Description
Amitabha Buddha, Tibet, bronze, c.13th or 14th century, 12 x 8 x 6 inches, weight: 2360 grams, hollow base with old paper wrapped in red cloth inserted, old blue paint to rear, figure seated in Dhyanasana on double lotus throne with hands in contemplation mudra, crown of three leaves, flowers above each ear, necklace and other jewelry, strong pose with slightly curled mouth, displaying more of an Indian influence as opposed to Nepalese. Himalayan Art Resources number 90569.
Condition
Age appropriate rubbing and tarnish, small area of repair at right elbow, small dent to left foot, possible chipping to base.
