This lot consists of a framed oil painting on board, done in the subtle style of Giorgio Morandi (Italian, 1890-1964). Image depicts a tenderly arranged grouping of neutral-toned ceramics. A placid and clean image. Hand-painted inscription at lower right corner reads, "Morandi". Overall framed measurements approximately 28.5" x 23.75". Image sight approximately 24" x 19.25".

Giorgio Morandi (Italian, 1890-1964) lived his entire life in Bologna. Morandi received formal artistic training at Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna, where he excelled in his studies. 1918 to 1922 marked Morandi's Metaphysical Painting stage, from which point he began to focus on subtle gradations of tone, value, and shape within a unifying "atmospheric haze". A master of light and form, Morandi's work is highly sought after today as a standard in taste. As a matter of fact, in 2009, President Barack Obama personally chose two paintings by Giorgio Morandi to highlight the permanent White House collection.
