A charming carved wooden helmet mask featuring a marionette figure on top of a classic Gelede festival dance mask. The mask has plenty of wear and handling suggesting actual field use. The marionette figure was controlled by two strings which hang down though holes on the mask and control the body and right arm of the figure which at one time likely held a staff or sword which is now lost. Yoruba peoples, Nigeria, Africa. The mask measures 26 inches tall and 11 inches wide. A metal display stand can be included for an additional $35.00
