Great War art hand drawn. Rare Great War Art Sketches. A collection of SIX hand drawn sketches, done during the Great War by Pte. Edwin J Horne Queens (RWS) Regiment. Pte Horne was a 1st Class Meteorological Observer Royal Engineers 1st Army HQ. The sketches are all approx 4.5x3.5 inches in size and inscribed as follows; "Clerks Mess 1st Army HQ" Dated 10/5/18, then, "Battle in progress Maisnil les Ruitz behind the line near Bethune" Dated 12/4/18, also, "Bouvigny Ridge 1st Army HQ Ranchicourt" Dated 9/2/18, then "My dugout in the railway embankment between Epehy and Heudicourt Here I drew maps for intelligence. Added later are comments By a remarkable coincidence my train taking me home for demobilisation etc etc" Dated 28/1/18, the fifth one is "Interior of dugout on railway embankment by Vaucellette farm Heudicourt. With the thaw all these bags collapsed" Dated 12/1/18 and finally, "Ruins in Heudicourt SW of Cambrai" Dated 19/1/18. These sketches are of excellent quality with neat legible text. They are unique historical items and there must be very few others that have survived over the years. Given that they are now over 100 years old they are in remarkably good condition.
