Description
Very early American primitive. Antique three-footed Hearth and fireplace trivet with handle, all hand carved and constructed from fruit wood. It is in the shape of a milking stool but was actually used in the kitchen as a trivet for hot pots and kettles. Unusual oval shape. Three splayed legs, through tenon joints. The body is roughly carved from a single piece of wood, including the handleGreat old wood patina developed over time. Outstanding country Americana rustic charm. Circa late 18th century, from Cape Cod.
Measurements: Approx. 11.5" tall x 15.5" long with the handle x 8" deep overall. Weighs about 3.5 lbs.
