AN ANTIQUE SCANDINAVIA MAP, "Novissima nec non Perfectissima Scandinaviæ, Tabula Comprehendens Regnorum Sueciæ, Daniæ, et Norvegiæ," AMSTERDAM, 17TH/18TH CENTURY hand colored engraving on paper, after Frederik de Wit (Dutch 1630-1706) hand numbered in ink U/R, plate: 20" x 23 1/4". Note: This map details the established territory of Scandinavia confirmed by the "Peace Treaty between the Holy Roman Emperor and the King of France," paragraph XVIII of the Treaty of Westphalia, October 24, 1648. Provenance: Property from a Corporate Art Collection.
Condition
Good repair with appropriately toned fibrous paper and some appropriate inpainting on paper backing, hand coloring deteriorating, fading and causing paper tears throughout, pages joined at center, expected wear, mild even toning, hand written number upper right obscured by matting, most of plate mark is obscured; overall in good to very good condition, wear commensurate with age.
