This is an oil on canvas landscape of the rugged countryside around Manila. It was executed by Gabriel Custodio, a Philippine artist born in Tanza Cavite in the the early 1900's. He graduated from art school in 1939 and learned his skills from a local nun, and he's known for his murals at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Makati. In 1956, he founded the Academy of Filipino Artists and later co-founded the Talahib Art group.It is signed and dated '71 in the lower left, and it is boldly signed and reads "Manila, Philippines" on the verso. The overall size is 29 x 39 in. and the sight size is 24 1/2 x 35 in.
