One of the great books on chess strategy, the moves described with explanatory notes. François-André Danican Philidor (1726-1795), a French composer, was regarded as the finest chess player of his age. This copy includes the subscriber list and the abbreviations, which are sometimes lacking. Bookplate of G.W.F. Gregor, sometime Esquire of Cornwall, and lord of the manor at Trewarthenick House.
Condition
Some scuffing to spine and cover edges, other shelf wear, joints tender or cracking; very good condition.
