Description
This is a very fine hand made ritual cloth from the Shipibo Indians of the Amazon Rainforest, PERU, South America. A very large hand painted and hand embroidered cloth featuring wonderful geometric designs and two Anaconda snakes, symbols of the Ayahuasca visions captured in the textiles designs. The Shipibo-Conibo live in the 21st century while keeping one foot in the past, spanning millennia in the Amazonian rainforest. Many of their traditions are still practiced, such as ayahuasca shamanism. Shamanistic visions have inspired artistic tradition and decorative designs found in their clothing, pottery, tools and textiles. This ceremonial cloth wall hanging measures 62 inches x 48 inches. Acquired directly from the Shipibo artist in the Amazon Jungle.
