Description
This is a very fine hand made ritual cloth from the Shipibo Indians of the Amazon Rainforest, PERU, South America. A very intricate hand woven and embroidered cloth featuring wonderful geometric motifs, using at least some natural organic pigments and creating symbols of the Ayahuasca visions captured in the textile designs. The Shipibo-Conibo live in the 21st century while keeping one foot in the past, spanning millennia in the Amazonian rainforest. Many of their traditions are still practiced, such as ayahuasca shamanism. Shamanistic visions have inspired artistic tradition and decorative designs found in their clothing, pottery, tools and textiles. This ceremonial cloth wall hanging measures 59 inches x 27 inches. Acquired directly from the Shipibo artist in the Amazon Jungle.
