Coolidge, Hoover, FDR, Truman, & Eisenhower Signed Items--Great Dealer Lot!
A presidential archive perfect for dealers, comprised of 5 documents signed by U.S. Presidents from "Silent Cal" through Ike! With expected light paper folds, else in very good to near fine condition. Eight pieces total including envelopes.
The lot is comprised of:
1. 1p typed letter signed by future 30th U.S. President Calvin Coolidge (1872-1933) as "Calvin Coolidge" at bottom. Written in Boston, Massachusetts on November 8, 1920 on "The Commonwealth of Massachusetts / Executive Department / State House, Boston" letterhead, with the state seal embossed in gilt and cobalt blue at upper left. Coolidge thanks Edmund Billings, a banker, philanthropist, and fellow politician. 7.375" x 10.375".
2. A vintage souvenir postcard captioned: "Room in which President Coolidge Took Oath of Office Given by his Father on Aug. 3 - 1923 - 2- 47 A.M. at Coolidge Homestead, Plymouth, Vermont". Inscribed verso by a tourist during the summer of 1925.
3. Black and white vintage photo signed and inscribed by 31st U.S. President Herbert Hoover (1874-1964) as "To C. Wesley Roberts / With the Good Wishes of / Herbert Hoover" along the bottom margin. 7.875" x 9.75".
4. 1p typed letter signed by future 32nd U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882-1945) as "F.D.R." at bottom. Written at Warm Springs, Georgia on November 28, 1929 on "State of New York / Executive Chamber / Albany" letterhead, with an enormous gilt-embossed Excelsior seal at top. Roosevelt thanks a well-wisher for his congratulations. Light paper folds, else near fine. 8" x 10.5".
5. 1p typed letter signed by future 33rd U.S. President Harry S. Truman (1884-1972) as "Harry S. Truman" at center. Written to an autograph collector from Washington, D.C. on March 2, 1943. On "United States Senate / Committee on Military Affairs" letterhead. Accompanied by the original transmittal envelope free franked by Truman as "Harry S. Truman" in the postage area.
6. 1p typed letter signed by sitting 34th U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower (1890-1969) as "Dwight D. Eisenhower" at center. Written in Washington, D.C. on March 13, 1957 on executive stationery, concerning a foreign service appointment in Venezuela. Comes with the original transmittal envelope.
