Stunning, Chinese 16th C. Ming Dynasty Chongzhen Reign Period, blue and white character story gourd bottle. Potted in a shape of double gourd resemblance, with two bulbous bellies conjoined together, banded in the mid, suspending a tall cylindrical neck, bulbous lower section finishing into a slender bottleneck at the top, with a flaring opening. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white underglaze base color which contrast against the cobalt blue fine color. The main body adorned with some folk bring lampion bamboo on the grass fields among tropical lappets tree and various plant amidst a salubrious garden. The neck decorated with same hand painting with main body, banded in mid with flower blooms and scrolling foliage, enclosed with double fine blue ring lines. The upper neck festooned with scrolling ruyi clouds and flaming vapor, enclosed with double fine blue ring lines. The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground and dark grayish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim. The porcelain conformed all required specimen to be high valued Chinese porcelain wares, with finest material, the whiteness, the glaze, the carving, and the shape. Without overlap the outlines of the design, well carved, clear, subtle, and distinct. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned.
