Smoke Bellew is a collection of 12 stories which were first published in Cosmopolitan Magazine. This is a first edition of this loosely connected series of tales about a journalist who goes to the Klondike in search of gold and, in his efforts to prove himself to the girl he loves, undergoes a series of dangerous adventures.

It was the first of several London titles published by Century, as his drinking led him to mistrust Macmillan and seek out another publisher, which he quickly regretted, since Century had much less patience or understanding with him.
